Part Time Contract, September 2026 - June 2027. This is an onsite position.   Overview: Kiwassa Neighbourhood House grows a welcoming and inclusive community in the vibrant Hastings-Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland neighbourhoods of East Vancouver, Located on the traditional, unceded and occupied territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səlílw̓ətaʔ/Selilwitulh (TsleilWaututh), and xʷməθkwəyə̓ m (Musqueam) Nations. Job Title: Support Worker - Out of School Care Classification: School Aged Child Worker Job Summary: The Out of School Care Support Worker supports Kiwassa's vision to grow a welcoming and inclusive community through building safe and engaging spaces to learn and grow. This position provides hands-on activities and care within a multicultural, inclusive out of school care program, with particular emphasis on supporting neurodivergent children - including children with autism - so they can fully participate in the program on their own terms. Kiwassa's children's programming works directly with vulnerable, high-needs children, many of whom face learning challenges related to trauma, or to insecurities around food, housing, or the settlement process. Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide direct 1:1 support to the identified child during all program hours * Developmentally appropriate activity for diverse sensory, communication, and social needs * Implement and help refine the child's care plan in collaboration with the family, OSC team, OSC coordinator, and any involved consultants * Support the child's meaningful participation and relationship-building with peers not isolated supervision * Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and the program team * Assist with personal care tasks if required (feeding, toileting, mobility) as specified in the child's care plan * Attend team meetings and training sessions * Follow all policies related to child safety, confidentiality, and licensing regulations * Prepares and serves program snacks/lunch to children as required * Upholds safety standards as per Kiwassa requirements Qualifications: * Six (6) months recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience * ECE Assistant (ECEA) certification  * Assets: Special Needs ECE Certificate, Education Assistant (EA) Diploma/Certificate, Child and Youth Care (CYC) Diploma/Degree, or training as a Behavioral Interventionist (BI). * Experience working with neurodivergent children, including children with autism, ADHD, or related diagnoses * Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or similar de-escalation training (or willingness to acquire within the first three months of employment) * Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods (e.g., PECS, communication devices/apps, sign supports) * Training or strong interest in trauma-informed, relational, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches * Knowledge of positive behavior support (PBS) principles * Emergency Child Care First Aid (or willingness to acquire within the first three months of employment) * FoodSafe certificate (an asset) What we offer: * Generous vacation plus personal days * Paid Sick Days  Wage: $25.17–$27.53/hr (based on qualifications) + $6/hr ECE Wage Enhancement for eligible ECE’s We strongly encourage applications from and prioritize from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including folks with disabilities, Indigenous people, racialized people and 2SLGBTQIA+ folks.  We encourage, though don’t require, folks of these identities to indicate this on their cover letter.
