Summary
This is a rewarding opportunity to work one to one with a child who has both learning and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs in a mainstream primary environment. The role is long term temporary with the potential for permanency and welcomes applications for both full time and part time hours.
The Role
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support, helping the pupil access lessons, navigate social interactions, and manage emotions. You’ll implement individualised strategies, manage resources, and monitor progress to support both academic and emotional development.
The Ideal Person
We’re seeking someone with genuine passion for SEND and experience supporting children with learning and SEMH needs. Ideally, you will hold a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or be qualified by experience). You’ll bring empathy, consistency, and adaptability, able to build trust and respond calmly to emotional regulation needs.
The School
This welcoming mainstream primary school values inclusive education, believing every child thrives when supported individually and alongside their peers. Staff work closely with external specialists to promote both learning and emotional wellbeing.
Hours
8.30 am to 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Both full time and part time hours are considered.
Bring your SEND experience to the heart of school life and make a real difference with flexibility, support, and purpose.

If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
