Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security. We are currently shortlisting for ten opportunities within the Directorate of Deployed‑ICT (D‑ICT) in Joint Capabilities Group (JCG), which delivers and sustains critical ICT capabilities supporting ADF operations. These roles sit within the D‑ICT Engineering Team, working closely with the Design Authority and Engineering Manager to: Resolve complex cross‑functional system issues Provide SME support across applications, hardware, and network integration Deliver quality analysis throughout the system lifecycle Support cybersecurity accreditation, ATC/ATO, audits, and remediation Develop High‑Level Designs for DIE security, monitoring, email, and UC solutions Networking Engineer – design/develop network requirements, evaluate solutions, lead integration and resolve support deficiencies; Infrastructure Engineer – lead systems/infrastructure solution design & selection, advise direction, mediate across stakeholders; Applications Engineer – lead application lifecycle design, evaluate vendor products, support implementation/technical resolution; Software Engineer ×2 (Commvault) – deliver engineering structures and lifecycle reports; design solutions covering backup/storage security, integration & performance SharePoint Engineer – define SharePoint refresh requirements (incl. WNA), provide evaluation reports, build guide for monitoring solution, deliver As‑Built/As‑Configured template Engineer (general) – contribute to governance structures, methodologies & compliance; design solutions considering Swap, security & performance Technical Assurance Engineer – broad product knowledge; maintain current/future architecture models; assess architectures/security/solutions with chief engineer & principal architect Systems Engineer – deliver system‑design artefact pack (architecture, integration, performance), review minutes, baseline logs, and governance plan Systems Architect – architecture design pack (data, security, integration, performance) for CJC16 systems; compliance reports & integration review artefacts Engineering Assurance & Training Officer – engineering‑to‑training gap analysis, and learning management integration pack capturing system changes Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 2 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
