Role : RF Engineer / IBW Consultant
Client : DC Government
Location : Washington, DC (Onsite)
Duties and Responsibilities

Day to Day Tasks:

  • Support various capital project tasks associated with radio system infrastructure, subscriber radio deployment, DAS systems performance monitoring and interference resolution, and the testing and acceptance of OUC projects associated with DAS and radio systems infrastructure
  • Develop criteria for approval of In-Building Wireless (IBW) proposals and applications.
  • Review and approve IBW proposals for compliance
  • Review existing guidelines for IBW
  • Update requirements for IBW systems implementation and support when applicable
  • Perform field surveys of new and existing BDA installations
  • Troubleshoot IBW network interference on the Public Safety Radio System
  • Investigate IBW network coverage issues
  • Support / complete agency radio programming requests
  • Manage / coordinate encryption and OTAR upgrades
  • Develop radio training material for internal and external users
  • Develop technical guidelines for radio use
  • Maintain and calibrate Motorola P25 subscriber radios
  • Support OUC radio operations

CONTRACT JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

  • Provides assessments of technical and operational practices associated with upgrades and system changes based on leading industry standards specific to the requested technology.
  • Provides technical SME support for the Public Safety Radio, DAS, and BDA systems.
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts research in a variety of areas, such as new or existing products for Wireless technology.
  • Searches sources such as reference works, literature, documents, newspapers, statistical records, and other sources of information. May use Internet, Intranet, magazines, periodicals, journals, and other media to perform research.
  • Analyzes information and statistical data to prepare reports and studies for use by professionals.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience Certification in related areas (e.g., NICET) is a plus.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $65.00 - $70.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • 11yrs SME in complex enterprise level projects: 10 years (Preferred)
  • public safety radio communications systems and DAS systems: 5 years (Preferred)
  • interoperable radio communications: 3 years (Preferred)
  • integration of P25 and 4G / 5G DAS systems Infrastructure: 3 years (Preferred)
  • RF engineer tools to simulate 4G and LMR coverage analysis: 3 years (Preferred)
  • drive testing P25 radio systems and 4G/5G cellular systems: 3 years (Preferred)
  • knowledge with LTE and P25 standard practices: 1 year (Preferred)
  • knowledge of DAS operations: 1 year (Preferred)
  • wireless communications - combination of theory & practice: 6 years (Preferred)
