The York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS) is a non-profit community organization legally mandated to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect. To support us on our journey, YRCAS is looking for a Human Resources Advisor to support our Department of People and Culture.

ABILITIES & LEAVES MANAGEMENT:

  • Will take a lead role in abilities management including return to work, accommodations, WSIB, STD/LTD coordination. Submitting the appropriate forms to support employee leaves. Providing guidance to employees inquiring about leave administration processes and options.
  • Facilitate return to work and accommodation meetings including updating managers on progress and updating associated trackers.
  • Keeping required stakeholders abreast of weekly changes (payroll/systems administrators/benefits providers etc) In partnership with the Human Resources Business Partner, escalating any complex or unique circumstances as necessary

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Successful completion of a university degree in HR, Business or related field and/ or a combination of relevant experience and education
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation preferred
  • A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a Human Resources/People & Culture Department within a complex unionized environment, preferably within the child welfare sector
  • Bilingualism in French would be considered an asset

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Demonstrated HR experience in the areas of recruitment and abilities management, with a strong commitment to inclusion and excellent customer service delivery
  • Experience in employee and labour relations in a complex unionized environment considered an asset
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Efficient problem solving skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A sound understanding of legislation and regulations governing the practice of Human Resources, including but not limited to: the Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft suite products and HR software programs and experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Bilingualism preferred
    PAY GRADE: Non-Union Pay Grade 5 ($73,465.25 - $92,967.62)
    HOURS OF WORK 33.75 hours per week

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Manager, People and Culture, the Human Resources Advisor will play a strategic role in supporting the development and implementation of a comprehensive and inclusive People and Culture Management strategy.
Under the direction and in collaboration with the Manager of People and Culture, this position provides support and guidance to the Department of People and Culture Department and will oversee the management of a variety of employee lifecycle activities including but not limited to full cycle talent acquisition and recruitment, position management, abilities management and employee and labour relation initiatives.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • This position will support other duties and projects as assigned to support the evolving operational needs of the department
  • The HR Advisor will support and provide coverage for People & Culture colleague
