About the Role
We are looking for a Parent Support Worker to join our multi-disciplinary team reporting to the Early Intervention Services Manager on a Part Time basis to work with children birth – 19 years of age. The Parent Support Worker Maintain or enhance the integrity, independence, and quality of life for families who have a child with special needs by strengthening their capacity to manage situations. Implement the Parent Support job as defined in the MCFD Children with Youth and Special Needs contract.
Wage: 22.84-28.75

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic First Aid or Child Safe.
  • Current Driver’s license
  • Completed Criminal Record Check

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Parent Support Worker consist of, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide individual support services to parents based on specific identified needs.
  • Promotion of rewarding parent-child interaction and positive parenting.
  • Support parents in identifying and accessing activities that promote community integration for their child/youth/family.
  • Develop and review parent and/or client service plans as a CDC team with each client on a regular basis.
  • Plan and organize parent education or parent support sessions as requested as the need occurs.
  • Maintain program records and statistical data as required by the CDC and program funding.
  • Participate as required in service plan and staff meetings.
  • Develop parent support materials for parents of children/youth accessing child and youth care services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Supervisor.
  • Provide individual support services to clients over the age of 19 based on specific identified needs.
