  • Safe food handling certificate
  • Up to three years cooking experience
  • Red Seal Certification
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Culinary Program ie: George Brown, Georgian College, OYAP

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

As First Cook at Cobble Beach you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food for both a la carte service and/or banquet services. You shall possess a high level of skill and knowledge in the culinary field. You will be expected to continue learning and growing as a culinary professional. You must present yourself in a professional manner always. As a first cook, it is your job to pay very close attention to detail and provide our customers with exceptional quality food and presentation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for proper preparation and presentation of menu items as set out by the executive chef and sous chefs
  • Keep a clean, organized and sanitary work environment
  • Required to check and record fridge temperatures every shift
  • May be responsible for running the line during slower mealtimes
  • Effectively delegate to second cooks and dishwashers to ensure a positive and productive work environment
  • Proper labeling and dating of products
  • Rotates stock effectively. First In First Out
  • Responsible for restocking items as needed
  • Communicate product shortages
  • Responsible for keeping management notified of any equipment issues
  • Minimizes safety hazards by following all health and safety procedures
  • Communicates effectively and positively with the front of house and culinary team
  • Ensures guest satisfaction by proper preparation of menu items and features
  • Follows all kitchen procedures to ensure a smooth-running operation
