Description

Qikiqtaaluk Fisheries Corporation (QFC) owns and operates MV Saputi, a 76-meter Multi Species Factory Freezer Trawler.
QFC harvests Northern Shrimp and Turbot. We are a major participant in the Canadian shellfish and groundfish industries and provide a premium cold-water seafood to national and international markets.
We are Currently recruiting for the Position of 1st Engineer.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

· Valid Transport Canada 2nd Class Engineer (Motorship) Certificate of Competency
· Marine Advanced First Aid
· Valid Transport Canada Marine Medical Certificate
· Marine Emergency Duties (MED’s) STCW Basic Safety and Survival Craft Certifications
· Valid Passport
· Strong Leadership, Supervisions and planning skills.
· Strong Analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting ability/skills.
· Strong Verbal and Written communication skills
· Ability to work Independently and part of a Team
· Experience in the following would be considered an asset:
Factory Freezer Trawlers
Ammonian Refrigeration Systems
Low Pressure Hydraulic Winch Systems
Factory/Processing Equipment Maintenance
Electrical Troubleshooting/Maintenance
Welding/Fitting/Fabricating
Duties/Role, 1st Engineer
Including but not limited to:
· Reports directly to the Chief Engineer
· Officer in Charge of the Watch- Direct supervision of Engine Room Crew
· Responsible for the Safe and Efficient Day to Day Operation of the Engine Room and Machinery Spaces.
· Preventive and Corrective Maintenance and Operation of Propulsion and Auxiliary Engines, and Auxiliary Boiler.
· Preventive and Corrective Maintenance and Operation of Deck Hydraulic/Winch Systems.
· Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of Factory Production Equipment.
· Preventive and Corrective Maintenance and Operation of Ammonia Refrigeration System.
· Inventory of Critical Spare Parts
