Description
Description Job Overview Please do NOT apply for this position if you want a job at a really fancy, stuffy and uptight law firm. Those places might be really great but that's just not us. That being said, at David Fogel P.C., we most certainly take the work seriously... but we try to have a good time gettin it done. In fact, if you don't have a demonstrated strong work ethic or reliability is not of the utmost importance to you, then you should NOT apply. It simply would not be a good fit for each other (and who wants that?). If you’re truly awesome (read: you get along well with others, you take ownership of your work, you're genuinely happy to help, and you're someone who can be counted on) and you're somewhat intrigued by this job post, then know this: it is our pledge to ensure that you don’t dread coming into work every day. Heck, you'll probably miss coming into the office on the weekends (ok, ok, if you really want to come in on the weekends, we'll see what we can do). The Opportunity We are seeking a Legal Receptionist for an IN-OFFICE position, it's not only important to understand the substantive aspects of our files, but it is equally important to be able to professionally handle the phone calls and calmly manage multiple lines. That's where being the 1st Impression Maker comes into play... being the first voice and face of the firm, undoubtedly, a critical role that we hold in high regard. Therefore, the candidate must always maintain a professional appearance and attitude. Here’s the deal: we need someone who: is awesome (see above for definition), is motivated and energetic, has a sincere desire to support colleagues and the firm, has good instincts, is a self-starter, and does not settle for anything less than excellence. Qualifications & Requirements In order to succeed in this role, the candidate must: have a desire to be on the phone throughout each day and resolve calls without unnecessarily escalating them have exceptional communication, written and interpersonal skills have a strong work ethic and be trustworthy to work independently with little oversight be able to confidently and effectively juggle multiple calls simultaneously have the ability to quickly learn frequently used terminology be willing to assist in setting up and cleaning up after office lunches have a genuinely positive attitude and desire to help the firm as needed You will have significant contact with clients, attorneys and others; therefore, excellent communication skills is a must. Also, you need to be comfortable sitting in the office reception area on your own (don't worry, we'll visit you plenty throughout the day!). In addition to skillfully handling the phones, the candidate will also be responsible for performing some legal and administrative assistance, including: preparing legal documents assist with incoming and outgoing mail and scanning scheduling appointments court and bank runs maintaining office organization inventorying and ordering office supplies Some additional fine print you should know before you apply: 1+ year of receptionist experience required – and not just taking messages or transferring calls 1+ year of paralegal/legal assistance experience preferred – we're happy to train Desire and demonstrated ability to crush it. Every. Single. Day. required – energized and upbeat (lazy persons need not apply) NY Civil litigation/NYSCEF experience preferred – if not, no worries, we’ll teach you Organization and neatness required – it’s the only way to stay on top of your game Flexibility and ability to work alone and with others required – we got a lot to do, so you need to be able to be productive on your own and step up as a team player as needed Great computer (PC) skills required – you can be a Mac expert but you need to know the difference between left click and right click Enjoy a good slice of pizza preferred – this should speak for itself Sense of humor can't hurt – after all, we’re spending a lot of time together This is a great opportunity for an aspiring paralegal. One more thing, if you think you'd be a good fit for this position, let us know why... ya know, in that cover letter no one likes to write.
