Description Perform set up, run, adjust, and operate numerically controlled machine tools on repetitive work under general supervision, from work instructions, recognize and report programming errors and make corrections, inspect and measure parts on lathes or mills. Requirements KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: · Load machines with multiple lengths of stock, as is standard operating procedure · Select and set machine automatic feed, speeds, and feeds for type of material cutting characteristics and to ensure production standards and quality requirements are met · May set up and/or operate two or more machines simultaneously as directed by supervisor · Diagnose machine malfunctions, setup and operating difficulties, causing deviations and make corrective adjustments · Work from drawings, specifications, charts, and layouts to ensure cut length tolerances are correct · Meet or exceed production requirements, quality standards · Use micrometer, calipers, depth gage, bore gage, thread, and height gages · Work from complicated drawings, specifications, programming, set up instructions and data · Complete all required paperwork accurately, attention to detail · Proceed under general supervision; instruction and guidance provided on set up and operating difficulties, new work, and program variations · Work is subject to process and final inspection and test · Keep work area clean and organized PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, GENERAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Requires standing, lifting and bending Impact, crush, cut and pinch-point knowledge Chemical exposure, SDS awareness Seasonal warm, cold EDUCATION, PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES, ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS: High school graduate or GED equivalent, vocational a plus Attention to time management, results-oriented Related computer functions, knowledge of manufacturing process functions On the job training, comprehension of machine operating procedures and adherence to safety protocols Assist in meeting overall company continuous improvement goals of safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity
