Job Details Job Location: Maine - Brewer, ME Education Level: High School Salary Range: $26.00 Hourly Job Shift: 1st Shift (7am - 3pm) 1st Shift Quality Specialist SUMMARY Tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process. Compiles and evaluates data to maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties. Satisfy SAI’s Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference SAI Quality Manual and Quality Policy) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for incoming inspection, final inspection, special testing for -- production, customer trials, PPAP submissions, supplier component trials, engineering trials, and Product Change Requests. Evaluate daily production results from quality checks. Informs production of abnormal results. Proficient in using data collectors and SPC software for evaluations. Monitor and maintain control of inspection equipment and gaging devices. Follow inspection standards and complete appropriate QC checks (destructive test, hardness checks, etc.) Train employees on basic skills such as gage use, containment, etc. Work closely with direct materials so that traceability is followed throughout production. Control the maintenance and calibration schedule of all gages Perform and maintain gage capability studies. Create and maintain procedures for gage control. Instruct production on proper use of gages and equipment. Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner. Perform 5S activities in Quality Lab and in support of production. Support Quality Engineer in dispositioning evaluation of morning market, bonded, and on hold material including screening of material as required SPC line audits Responsible for issuing Pokeyoke failure notifications Complete Corrective Action Tasks as assigned. Perform Product and Process internal quality audits Support APQP activity per Quality Engineer or Quality Manager direction Submit suggestions for improvements. 1st Shift Quality Specialist QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED; technical school; or Maine Quality Center 200-hour Certificate; one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS / COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Basic computer skills: familiarity with DOS / Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
