POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Head of House is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (Executive) of the College and is responsible for leading, coaching and mentoring both middle leaders and teachers. The Head of House is a dynamic educational leader who thrives in a high performing, collaborative environment with a focus on improving student outcomes.
The position has oversight of the learning and wellbeing of a stage of students, supported by Leaders of Wellbeing and Engagement and Leaders of Learning. They have a comprehensive understanding of the operations of a future focussed Years 7-12 learning community, and plays a key role in identifying, implementing, and embedding both College and system strategic goals. The Head of House plays a key role in fostering a genuine sense of belonging and identity within both House and college community.
The Head of House will promote the school as a place of learning and excellence in accordance with contemporary evidence-based learning and wellbeing principles and will ensure the ongoing development and implementation of pedagogical practices that impact on student learning outcomes. The Head of House will acknowledge and agree to the requirement to work within the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

  • Must be practising Catholic with an ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic school.
  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools.
  • Prior leadership experience in either curriculum or wellbeing.
  • Ability to demonstrate and lead a comprehensive understanding of contemporary learning and wellbeing principles, informed by evidence-based research.
  • Lead and develop the implementation of a whole school learning and wellbeing framework underpinned by an emerging culture of student agency.
  • Proven ability to empower and build capacity of colleagues through cultivating authentic professional relationships.
  • Ability to lead a professional learning team underpinned by a culture of collective efficacy.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with families.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional learning.

QUALIFICATIONS/ACCREDITATIONS

  • Four-year trained teacher classification with an established record of success in teaching
  • NESA Teacher Accreditation
  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
  • Completion of anaphylaxis training
