National Yacht Club is looking for additional instructors to teach Basic Cruising this season! Our sailing
school has been teaching sailing on Lake Ontario for over 60 years, with a mission to introduce beginners
to the sport and create lifelong sailors.
We are located on the Western Gap of the Toronto Harbour with a protected mooring basin, quick access
to open lake sailing and a short sail to the beaches of Toronto Islands and Toronto’s Inner Harbour. Our
Basic Cruising courses are taught on our well-appointed Catalina 25 Away.
We host Sail Canada Basic Cruising courses on Saturdays and Sundays May through to mid-September,
with additional hours available on weeknights for written test proctoring or weather make-up sessions.
NYC is looking for Basic Cruising qualified instructors who are knowledgeable, well-spoken and dedicated

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed Sail Canada Basic Cruising Instructor Standard
- Sail Canada Instructor Registration for 2024
- ROC(M) - VHF Radio Operators Certificate *
- Toronto Port Authority Operators Permit (Toronto Harbour Licence) *
- Previous Keelboat Sailing, Instructional or Lake Ontario experience an asset.
Responsibilities:
• Part time weekend May through September – sessions run in two consecutive weekends
- Communication with program participants
- Teach and evaluate Basic Cruising level sailors aged 16 and up
- Work with and receive support from the Programs & Marketing Manger
