REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

The successful candidate must possess a 3–4-year post-secondary degree plus a minimum of 3 years related to computer networking, computer science, cybersecurity, or a comparable combination of education and experience. Experience working in a post-secondary or a public sector environment is considered an asset, and working with institutional repositories, research databases, and library systems in collaboration with academic staff is preferable. To be successful in this role, you must have experience supporting diverse server environments (Windows, Linux, VMware) across on-premises, IaaS, and cloud platforms, as well as managing networking components including switches, routers, and firewalls. The successful candidate must maintain systems in line with cybersecurity best practices, troubleshoot complex issues, and manage infrastructure upgrades and lifecycle tasks. The candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to convey technical information to non-technical audiences and convey status updates within a team environment to support workflow.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer through the Coordinator of Networks and Operations, the Senior Network Analyst is responsible for delivering and managing reliable, secure IT network services and core computer services to support teaching, research, learning, and operations at Brandon University. Key responsibilities include monitoring, troubleshooting, installing, repairing, configuring, patching, and securing networking equipment and server infrastructure across virtual, physical, and cloud environments, following industry best practices. The Senior Network Analyst addresses cybersecurity threats, implements hardening measures, and supports the University’s adoption of industry-standard security protocols. The role also involves identifying infrastructure needs and developing implementation plans in collaboration with IT leadership and academic stakeholders. Additional duties include maintaining documentation, managing backups, licensing, and inventory, supporting disaster recovery procedures, coordinating with vendors and consortia, and responding to critical outages. The analyst also provides guidance on networking and server infrastructure to support both administrative and academic functions. Other related duties as assigned.
