QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  1. Must possess a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Elementary Education Endorsement and/or Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, ELL endorsements preferred.
  2. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree.
  3. Must meet State requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  1. Must have an understanding of Washington State Developmental Guidelines and developmentally appropriate practices as defined by NAEYC.
  2. Knowledge and skill in instructional principles, methods and techniques.
  3. Knowledge of second language acquisition
  4. Commitment and ability to work with a full range of students, staff and parents.
  5. Skill in classroom management, student discipline and developing positive techniques for improving student behavior.
  6. Must possess a positive attitude about change and an eagerness to implement changes that will enhance student learning.
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with a variety of students, staff, and community in a multicultural, and diverse socio-economic setting.
  9. Ability to participate collaboratively in teams.
  10. Ability to continue participation in staff development to maintain professional skills.
  11. Ability to serve as a role model and treat students as individuals in a professional manner.
  12. Ability to effectively integrate technology resources into the curriculum.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to:
1. Create a classroom environment that promotes exploration and creativity with clearly defined interest centers and work areas that support opportunities to observe student application of knowledge and document student strengths.
2. Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instructional activities consistent with building and adopted district curriculum and Common Core Standards.
3. Provide clear and focused instruction for all students by using a variety of teaching strategies that promote student engagement and interaction to meet the needs of all students.
4. Provide on-going assessment and monitor students for the purpose of individualization, partnering with parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals by using quality classroom-based, and state assessment tools.
5. Establish and maintain a standard of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, safe and productive learning environment.
6. Communicate positively and regularly with parents and/or legal guardians in the areas of growth, student progress, and teacher expectations; develop meaningful collaboration between home and school.
7. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with grade level team members and other staff, administrators, parents/legal guardians, support groups, and community members.
8. Collaborate with building and district-wide staff, para-educators, and volunteers for the purpose of providing an effective school program.
9. Use technology in the teaching and managing of students.
10. Work with and assume the responsibility for the productive use of classroom paraeducators.
11. Enforce and uphold all District and Building policies, rules and regulations.
12. Perform other duties assigned.
