REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Understand and use a range of digital technologies and how they may be combined with inquiry-based pedagogy to enhance international-mindedness and global awareness for learners;
  • Demonstrate experience with electronic reference databases, online libraries, learning resource catalogues and circulating systems;
  • Demonstrate recent exemplary teaching experience, in particular with reference to supporting literacy standards in across all grade levels (K-7);
  • Promote the collaborative nature of today’s elementary school library (use of learning resources and services, and innovative learning spaces);
  • Coordinate, manage and provide leadership by providing library programs and services for students, parents, and staff;
  • Promote digital literacy authentically and purposefully by integrating technology into curricular areas and by demonstrating how information is linked to curricular programs mandated by the school, district, and province;
  • Work to ensure physical and intellectual access to information is promoted in a safe manner;
  • Coordinate the acquisition, organization and circulation of learning resources;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in planning collaboratively to lead and support inquiry units with colleagues and select resources to complement student inquiry and questioning;
  • Understand and demonstrate the ability to teach, assess, and plan K – 7 programs as per the redesigned BC curriculum and its key elements including Core Competencies, Big Ideas, Curricular Competencies, Content and Concepts;
  • Demonstrate recent ability to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners through a broad array of teaching strategies and differentiated instruction;
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability, commitment and drive to work cooperatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;
  • Demonstrate a proven commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders (ie: West Vancouver Memorial Library);
  • Hold a valid teaching certificate and be a member in good standing with the Teachers’ Regulation Branch
