The Integrated Solutions, Modeling, and Architecture (ISMA) directorate assesses, develops, and evaluates solution architectures for our customers’ largest, most complex challenges across all the operational domains. In the Operations and Mission Analysis Department you’ll be part of a special team that analyzes the world’s most challenging threats and helps define new capabilities to counter them, pushing the boundaries of innovation, and leading the industry in operational modeling and simulation using our purpose-built software. As a team member in the Airborne Kill Chain AI/ML Section, you will join a high-performing team of engineers working with high-fidelity missile simulations to construct decision support systems used by the warfighter.
Raytheon is currently seeking a Simulation Analysis Engineer I. This is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ, with the potential for occasional travel a few times a year.

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field.
  • This position requires less than 12 months of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • Scripting/programming experience with MATLAB and/or Python
  • At least one course in probability & statistics

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER

  • Specific majors: Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering.Cumulative GPA
  • 3.2
  • Coursework, internship, projects or work experience in the following areas: Simulation modeling, development, and/or analysis of physical systems
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering life-cycle model
  • Software development processes and object-oriented design using C/C++ and/or Java in either Unix or Linux computing environments.
  • Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) or Surrogate Modeling
  • Computation on high-performance computing (HPC) grids/clusters, SLURM
  • Demonstrated ability in the following areas:
  • Conflict resolution in team environments
  • Written and verbal communication with peers, management, IT support, and customers
  • Producing PowerPoint slides, documentation, and/or publications.
  • Experience with military work or substantive domain knowledge of tools and tactics of warfare
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • You will support the design, development, and/or utilization of high-fidelity digital simulation software in advanced technical computing environments.
  • You will contribute to trade studies to assess system performance of weapons against a variety of threats in a variety of kill chain scenarios.
  • You will contribute your knowledge of performance engineering practices, and procedures, to evaluate work across a wide range of intriguing computational problems to answer questions such as: what should be the next system improvement; or what is the effectivity of the missile against a single or multiple threats; or what counter measures should be considered to increase effectivity and/or survivability and other operational performance related questions.
  • You will contribute and collaborate in a team environment, receiving input from the program, external customers, or team experts, and work on projects, as you determine, develop, and implement analytic approaches that will generate the supporting data to inform programmatic decisions.
  • You will participate in the development and implementation of model-based solutions to power decision support systems, and participate in validation and testing models, software components and/or integrated systems.
