Description:

THE DEPARTMENT:

Immigrant Health sits within General Medicine. We deliver clinical care for children of refugee background or seeking asylum in outpatients, consult on hospital inpatients, and also work in research, policy and education in refugee health. Our team includes medical and mental health clinicians, social work, dental therapy and a clinic coordinator.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain
  • Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure
  • All International Medical Graduate applicants will need to meet the AHPRA English Language requirements

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

  • Full time or Part time, fixed term Fellow position(s) commencing 3 February 2025 for 12 months. 4 weeks annual leave.
  • Job share and part time roles available, with FTE negotiable.
  • Total available - 1.0 FTE RCH and 0.2 FTE at coHealth.
  • Please indicate your preference for FTE in your cover letter
  • This role is accredited for RACP developmental psychosocial training, community child health training and social paediatrics, and can be accredited for public health training

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Providing clinical care in the outpatient setting in a supervised capacity (twice weekly Immigrant Health clinics, weekly clinic at coHealth in Footscray, +/- TB clinic).
  • Assistance with referral triage, test result follow-up and GP/other practitioner liaison
  • Support and coordination of weekly clinical meetings, attendance at other hospital meetings as required
  • Provision of training and education to GP’s, Refugee Health Nurses and others on child refugee health
