WHAT SKILLS YOU NEED

  • 5 years of experience in work with cross functional teams to plan and implement manufacturing processes of new products. Experience with weld method development to setup weld procedures and methods for new construction and agricultural equipment including Weld sequence, drawing review, operator training
  • 5 years of experience with Industrial Engineering for fabrication processes including Setup and design process, fabrication line, layout for new products. Establish methods and routings, calculate labor cost, time and manpower requirements to build new products
  • 2 years of experience to support and/or implement Smart connected factory tools to control production inventory, increase manufacturing output and improve quality such as data acquisition, data analysis and factory automation
  • 2 years of experience in justify and implements new assets such a robots/cobots, fixtures or tooling. Experience in robot programing, GD&T, layout design, weld fixture design/review and implementation

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, a related field or foreign equivalent plus 5 years related experience.
Responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Weld Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere in Dubuque, IA, you will:

  • Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans, and labor standards for revisions to current operations and new parts or programs of moderate scope;
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for current operations; develop specialized manufacturing methods and instructions for Deere physical build (PB) and support Start of Production (SOP) activities;
  • Update factory layouts and component tooling, fixturing and process validation processes; in addition to the following responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform Deere manufacturing engineering work;
  • Investigate, gather, and analyze data and implement solutions;
  • Innovate and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas of moderate scope;
  • Analyze and improvement quality through quality management tools and practices, apply electronic tools across a broad range of applications, including e-builds, modeling, and simulations;
  • Develop and implement plans to support lean manufacturing through the Deere Production System of moderate scope;
  • Design operations layouts;
  • Improve material flow and material presentation;
  • Lead team studies related to capacity, energy, productivity, and efficiency of moderate scope;
  • Lead the analysis, development, and implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology;
  • Analyze and make modifications to existing performance pay plans;
  • and assist in the development of baseline data for new performance pay plans.
  • Up to 25% domestic travel required.
