Applicants are encouraged to self-declare in their application.   Position Summary The Early Childhood Educator (ECE), as part of a team of ECEs and Child Care Assistants, is responsible for delivering impact-specific, age-appropriate programming to all the children in the program, using a current understanding of child development principles. The ECE assesses each child’s needs and plans and provides programming that promotes positive social, physical, emotional and cognitive development. The ECE fosters a clean and safe environment that encourages healthy interaction and learning.   Qualifications  Education * ECE II or ECE III Classification from the Manitoba Child Care Program * Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR Certificate Skills, Expertise, and Experience * Minimum of 2 years of experience working with/caring for children in a childcare facility * Demonstrated understanding of child development theory and principles and ability to put that understanding into practice * Experience supervising and engaging children throughout the day, during transition, individual and group activities, and free and structured play * Ability to use a range of child development approaches, skills, and techniques to optimize each child’s experience and opportunity to leave and develop * Experience taking active steps to identify and manage risks to ensure the safety of all children * Experience managing behavioral issues in accordance with established policies and practices * Experience documenting relevant information regarding children and families and recording program information in accordance with applicable standards and policies Critical Skills Proven knowledge and ability in critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills Focus on Results Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve goals and produce expected results/outcomes Alignment with Organizational Values Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission, and values Indigenous Understanding Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families Interdisciplinary Team, Collaboration Proven ability to work within a team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity, and cultural awareness  MCC Philosophies Strong knowledge, commitment, and demonstrated ability to apply diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro-choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma-informed, and community development principles in all aspects of the work.
