Job Description The Ceded Reinsurance Accountant will assume responsibility for all aspects of accounting for assigned ceded reinsurance contracts. Job Responsibilities: Verification of underwriting data for quota share and/or excess of loss contracts written by our fronting platform, Capital Solutions. Maintain the accuracy of premium information on excess of loss contracts written by the Capital Solutions platform including endorsements, premium adjustments, and cash allocations Maintain all aspects of quota share programs written by the Capital Solutions platform including bordereau reporting and posting, claims payments and cash allocation Verification and release of ceded reinsurance contracts written by the Bermuda underwriting ceded reinsurance team Monitor, and maintain within 90-day threshold, aging of accounts receivable/payable Liaise with brokers, claims department and underwriting departments regarding queries, outstanding receivables/payables, and premium adjustments Initiation of funding and withdrawal instructions in our Collateral Pay system to facilitate bordereaux settlements and collateral transactions Ad hoc administrative support to the Outwards Finance team as required Participate in systems enhancements including developing and executing test plans Additional projects and duties as required Qualifications A professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACA) is required with preference given to candidates with experience in public accounting A minimum of five years of professional experience, some of which must have been spent with a reinsurance company Previous experience reading and interpreting reinsurance terms and contracts. Technical knowledge of reserving and settlement practices are an asset Understanding of accounting for quota share and excess of loss contracts and must have experience with underwriting systems Financial reporting experience within a SOX and SEC regulated environment preferred Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels and in all areas of the organization across various time zones A strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative and work without supervision, as well as the ability to handle confidential information with absolute discretion Fluent in English, both written and oral Exceptional analytical, documentation and presentation skills Strong computer skills, in particular, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, primarily Excel Additional Information Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
