Description This is a seasonal/temporary position expected to last from May through August, with the possibility of extension based on club needs. Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations: Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and golf course construction, landscaped area maintenance work and building maintenance and improvement. Operate golf carts, trucks, tractors, mowers and light motorized equipment. Knowledge of agronomy, basic plant science and the rules of golf. Job Tasks/ Duties: Involved in the daily maintenance of bentgrass putting greens including but not limited to: mowing, rolling, grooming, brushing, topdressing, etc. Operation of broad spectrum of equipment including mowers, tractors, backhoes, skid-loaders, utility vehicles, etc. Responsible for the daily set up of the golf course and preparing the property for daily play Assist in the maintenance and repair of the course's irrigation system Involved in the course tree-maintenance plan including removal, pruning and planting Assist in maintenance of landscape beds including weeding, trimming, edging, mulching, etc. Involved in the daily maintenance of the bunkers, including raking, edging, mowing, etc. Beautifies grounds by adding landscaping enhancements, removing trash, debris, etc. Able to lead a small crew to complete on site projects such as sodding, drainage or irrigation install. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve common purpose Responsible for end of day operations including shop and equipment clean up Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. Education and/or Experience: No formal Education required. Previous work experience is preferred, but not required. Requirements Licenses and Special Requirements: Valid driver’s license. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
Responsibilities
This role involves the daily maintenance of bentgrass putting greens, bunkers, and general course setup, utilizing a broad spectrum of equipment. Responsibilities also include assisting with irrigation and tree maintenance, and potentially leading small crews for on-site projects.
