Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

Applications are now open for the position of Clinical Haematology Registrar (Outpatients) for 2026. This is position will be available for a 12-month term at 1.0 EFT or part time by negotiation.
The department of Clinical Haematology provides clinical haematology services to children (RCH) and Women (RWH) in addition to laboratory diagnostic services specializing in those related to paediatrics, neonatology, obstetrics and gynaecology. The service comprises inpatient and outpatient facilities, with consultative services provided to internal and external providers throughout Victoria and Tasmania.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Provision of clinical care in the outpatient setting in a supervised capacity, including two clinics per week.
  • Provision of clinical care in the inpatient, day medical and ward consult settings, in collaboration with other members of the Clinical haematology team.
  • Liaison with RCH internal clinical teams and external providers to facilitate continuity of care.
  • Attendance at Clinical haematology educational activities, participating in unit education and quality improvement program
  • Participate in Haematology procedures including bone marrow biopsy, lumbar puncture and administration of intrathecal chemotherapy as required by roster.
  • Participation in the after hours roster for clinical Haematology JMS (supported by consultant SMS) as required.
    These activities will occur under the supervision of Clinical Haematology senior medical staff.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:

Eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
Desirable: Undertaking advanced training in Haematology (RACP/RCPA), or general paediatrics (RACP).
