Lab Summary: The Standards & Mobility Innovation team is committed to developing technologies that enable ubiquitous access to information and provide immersive multimedia experiences for mobility users. Our research focuses on: Wireless standards and technology including 5G/6G, Wi-Fi, FiRa/UWB, MPEG, AOM, CSA Matter, CSA ACWG, CCC, etc. RF & fast prototyping of 5G and IEEE 802 wireless systems and/or use cases Multimedia standards and technology including VR, HDR, All-IP delivery IoT standards and Smart Home connectivity/sensing technology Position Summary: Join Samsung Research America in Plano, Texas to contribute to the system prototype development of next generation wireless communication and sensing systems. Position Responsibilities: Participate in the design of next generation wireless communication prototypes Develop algorithms for wireless modem, and advanced digital, analog and RF signal processing system Implement and verify the algorithms on state-of-the-art FPGA and/or DSP platform Required Skills: Currently enrolled in a PhD program in EE / ECE preferable or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Experience with wireless systems, modem algorithms, and corresponding DSP implementations for hybrid Massive MIMO systems: MIMO precoding, MMSE-IRC MIMO detection, error-correction codes, digital filters, FFTs, synchronization, channel estimation, etc. Hands-on design experience in developing real-time algorithms in Verilog on FPGA/ASIC, in C on embedded hardware platforms such as high-performance multi-core SoCs, or in C/CUDA in massively parallel processing systems such as GPU. Good understanding of hardware-software partitioning, resource/cost tradeoffs, and data movement challenges Hands-on experience with link-level simulations and fixed-point modeling in MATLAB or other programming language. Familiar with CPU and DSP architecture, and signal processing software development Good understanding of RF system architecture, performance specification and measurement, RF/baseband interface Our total rewards programs are designed to motivate and engage exceptional talent.
