What We Need YOU To Do: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest intern in the Division of Surface Water (DSW) at one of our many locations throughout the State of Ohio. Essentials. Let's talk about 'em: As a college intern, you'll receive training and orientation on our surface water program and assist the technical staff with a variety of program duties. We have multiple positions to choose from: 401/Wetlands Program Intern (Columbus): You will receive training in aspects of both in-office and in-the-field activities involved in the Stream and Wetland Permitting Program. Assist in collecting and tabulating data required to draft permits and reports. Collect, prepare and process biological, geomorphological, and water quality data. Assist in the operation/maintenance of field sampling equipment and instruments. Assist in mapping, preparing and migrating data into GIS systems and databases. Field-verify sites to determine compliance with 401 water quality certifications. Assist agency staff in performing site evaluations in response to complaints received. Learn and implement stream and wetland assessment methods. Water Quality Intern (Columbus, Logan, Dayton, Twinsburg): Be trained in aspects of both in-office and in-the-field activities involved in the Water Quality Program. Collect water quality data in streams and/or inland lakes. Conduct reconnaissance of survey sites. Assist in the operation, calibration, and performance maintenance of field instruments. Must be currently enrolled in a college degree program directly related to the position or have recently graduated within the quarter/semester immediately preceding the start date. Major area of study: Environmental Science, Water Resources, Chemistry or Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical) or relevant field of study.
