2026 Summer Internship Program Thank You for your interest in the 2026 Summer Internship Program! Internship Details: Start Date: May 26th, 2026 End Date: August 7th, 2026 Must work between 320 and 400 hours within the eleven-week timespan Schedule mutually agreed to with supervisor (flexible working hours/multiple shifts) Temporary/seasonal hourly rate: $13.50 (NEW HIRE RATE FOR 2026) Opportunity to gain work experience in local government The Internship Program provides an opportunity for high school and college students (16+) the opportunity to work with a rapidly growing municipal government that places high value on education and advancement. A successful internship will provide you with work experience in local government and may even give you an idea of a career path you did not know was an option to you. Potential Intern Placements Available: Animal Control Communications & Public Affairs City Manager's or Secretary's Office Facilities Maintenance Finance Fleet Maintenance Human Resources Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Information Technology (IT) Parks Pecos Proud Permits Water/Sewer Visit Pecos (Tourism) NOTE: A position listed above may choose not to accept an intern during this internship cycle. Experience and Education Requirements: To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
