The Ohio Department of Transportation, District 10, is now accepting applications for Summer Laborers for the following counties: Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Vinton and Washington. These are seasonal temporary positions with an anticipated end date of September 4, 2026. There are multiple positions, your application will be considered for all positions. 2026 Summer Laborer (Multiple Counties) What You Will Do: Flag/traffic control for highway maintenance Drive pickup truck to set out/pick up signs & follow mowing crew Roadside litter pickup, clean &/or wash vehicles & equipment Clean/hose down garage areas Use weed eater to trim around buildings, fences, etc. Help clean up roadsides when work crews are cutting brush/tree trimming Answer phone &/or radio when clerk is unavailable Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. In accordance with Section 124.11 (B)(2) of Revised Code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Responsibilities
The Summer Laborer will be responsible for flagging traffic for highway maintenance, driving trucks to set out and pick up signs, and performing roadside litter pickup. Additional duties include cleaning vehicles and equipment, trimming weeds, and assisting work crews with brush and tree trimming.
