Rotations include community (ACAS, Residential In-Reach, and domiciliary TCP program), inpatient GEM unit, GEM@home program, Orthogeriatrics Service, Acute Hospital Consults Service, residential TCP program and specialist clinics including CDAMS, Continence Service, Falls and Balance Clinic, POPS Clinic, Complex Wound Clinic and Community Geriatric Clinic.   A key strength of the program is exposure to different aspects of community geriatric medicine and access to a comprehensive Continence Service. Trainees will also have opportunities to participate in teaching with Deakin University Medical School and undertake research projects supported by Barwon Health and Deakin University. For a senior advanced trainee, opportunity is also available for interested trainees to apply for the Chief Registrar role which provides an opportunity for leadership training.   Oncall – registrars are expected to participate in the subacute after-hours oncall registrar roster which includes approximately 1 in 11 weekend nights and will be supported by an oncall consultant. There is an onsite HMO at McKellar Centre until 2330hrs (Mondays – Thursdays) or 2230hrs (Fridays – Sundays).   Barwon Health is participating in the PMCV Centralised Match for 2027 Geriatric Medicine Advanced Trainees in Victoria. Applicants will need to apply to Barwon Health, and to register with the PMCV centralised matching system. In addition, Barwon Health also has established a regional training partnership (RTP) position with Western Health for 2027 recruitment.
