Description Summary Under direction of the supervisor and/or superintendent, oversees general operation of outside production area. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions Oversees work performed by employees on assigned shift outside production, including regular and seasonal workers. Communicates with cutting, inside production, quality control, planning, ag procurement and other departments as needed to keep each department informed of issues with raw material inventory and usage. Ensures proper usage of raw material based on age of product, quality, and production needs. Assigns work and checks work of employees. Be proficient in all outside production job tasks and perform any as needed (forklift operator, pickle pump operator, tractor driver, etc). Stages raw material (fresh and process) in appropriate areas and adequate amounts to ensure proper start up for the next shift. Keeps required reports, both computerized and on paper, accurate and up to date. Assists with inventory tracking and verification throughout the shift. Completes the end of shift Raw Material Inventory and provides appropriate documentation as needed. Maintains outside production areas in a clean and organized manner (yard, coolers, drop trailers, offsite warehouses, offices, etc). Follows safety rules and company policies and ensures all work is completed in a safe manner. Other Duties Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate. Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor. Machines, Equipment, Tools Used Forklift, Hand Tools, Pumps, Dipper, Hoses, Ladder, Broom, Brush, Shovel, Skimmer, Plastic Cover, Machine Graders, Reel Washer, Tractor, Pressure Washer. Physical Demands Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady forces in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward. Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment. Work Environment Works outside, subject to wide seasonal temperature variations and intermittent wetness from rain or some job tasks. Gloves, goggles, ear protection and steel inserts for shoes available as needed.
