HPHA is a multi-site organization that includes Clinton Public Hospital, St. Marys Memorial Hospital, Seaforth Community Hospital and Stratford General Hospital.   ROLE The Environmental Services I position is responsible for providing a quality housekeeping service to the patients, public and staff members of the HPHA, within a team environment. They ensure assigned areas are maintained and daily workload is completed by coordinating, assisting assigned staff, mentoring and overseeing quality assurance audits. Additionally, they ensure that the standards of cleanliness are met through best practice methodologies, as well as having the ability to apply infection control standards. Housekeeping can be performed in patient rooms, nursing stations, hallways, bathrooms, offices, and other rooms within the designated department and hospital. REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S) * Minimum of Grade 12 education REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S) * Basic knowledge of sanitary practices and their importance * Use sound judgment and demonstrate awareness of potential hazards before acting * Actively seek out guidance and support in new or unknown safety situations * Promptly acknowledge and report incidents of actual or potential events or harm * Maintain knowledge and skill base required to perform duties of job safely and participate in annual reviews, training and education activities where required * Support and maintain commitment to patient safety Rounds as appropriate * Support and educate patients about their role in patient safety * Responsible for providing a quality housekeeping service to the patients, public and staff members of the HPHA, within a team environment. * Ability to read, write and comprehend English, with regards to verbal work orders and/or instructions * Compliance with sanitary and infection control requirements * Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills * Basic comprehension of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel * Able to meet the physical demands of the position DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION * Able to apply waste management protocols as well as to operate equipment associated with waste * Able to operate and maintain equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, automatic floor scrubbers, etc. * Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) * Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation   ADDITIONAL PERKS AT HPHA * Preceptor/Peer Mentorship Opportunities * Collaborative Team Environment * Enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) * Extended Health/Semi Private and Dental Benefits (for Part-time and Full-time only) * Diverse Committees and Engagement Opportunities * Opportunities to grow your career and explore different roles within the hospital   OUR COMMUNITIES Our communities are small in size but large in amusement; you will always find spectacular local heritage, a live event, a wide range of cuisine and locally owned stores.
