We are looking for a Stop the Violence Outreach Coordinator to join our stopping the Violence/Trauma Counselling team.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Reporting to: Manager of Trauma Counselling

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in related human /social service or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in providing services to women who have experienced violence.
  • Understanding of and an ability to practice from a trauma informed, trauma responsive and culturally safe perspective.
  • Knowledgeable in Best Practices for stopping the violence counselling programs (EVA BC).
  • Knowledge of the impact of poverty, discrimination and other adversities on women.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on communicating with vulnerable populations (individually and in groups).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant community resources, programs, and services.
  • Strong networking skills as well as verbal & written communication skills including the ability to present information to multi-cultural groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Intermediate to advanced level user of MS Office.
  • 2nd language (Arabic, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish, Ukrainian) fluency an asset.
  • A clear Criminal Record Check.
Responsibilities

The Stop the Violence Outreach Coordinator is a temporary position under the current Stopping the Violence contract for Surrey (Cloverdale, Newton, South Surrey). The Coordinator will assist women with short-term crisis support and system navigation as well as delivering public education initiatives to raise awareness of the effects of violence against women.

Program-specific Responsibilities:Intake and Assessment:

  • Attend to women who present in crisis and need assistance with risk identification and safety planning
  • Complete individualized risk assessments and safety plans
  • Maintain current knowledge of issues related to violence against women
  • Attend team clinical meetings as scheduled
