Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Coordinator or Supervisor, the Family Peer Partner on the team would help support participants experiencing early psychosis and their natural supports and provides supportive contacts with families, normalizes their experience and empowers families to be actively involved with participants while also setting healthy boundaries. The Family Peer Partner will serve as a role model and advocate in the areas of self-care/wellness, family impacts of mental health crisis, communication, self-advocacy and empowerment, daily activities, education, and employment utilizing a shared decision-making approach while maintaining a youth-friendly, person-centered, recovery-focused, and strengths-based service delivery model. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with consumers in accordance with treatment plans developed by professional personnel. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures. Requirements: Possession of high school diploma or a G.E.D. required. Familiarity with community resources, mental health service delivery system or willingness to pursue training/information as directed. The Family Peer Partner should also be someone who has developed some mastery and wellness related to their own experience of supporting a loved one during a mental health experience. Experience and training in the NAVIGATE Model required. Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history.
