Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Assertive Community Treatment Coordinator, provides an enhanced level of support for persons with mental illness and substance use disorders. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with consumers in accordance with treatment plans developed by professional personnel. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA’s mission, policies and procedures. Requirements: Possession of high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency required. One year of experience interacting with persons with emotional impairments required. Applicants must have experienced a significant disruption in their lives from the onset of a severe mental illness, have had treatment for the mental illness and are now in recovery. Must obtain Peer Support Specialist certification within one (1) year of hire through the mandatory MDCH Peer Support Specialist certification program. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both orally and in writing is required. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to communicate their personal story such that they can be a strong advocate, instill hope, and diminish the stigma for others in recovery through the interview process. Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance and verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record.
