KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Experience in program management and fiscal oversight
  • Strong skills in stakeholder engagement (students, school-based and district staff, families, industry, and community partners) and collaborative leadership
  • Knowledge of curriculum design, instruction & assessment
  • Ability to manage change and lead systems-level improvements across departments and schools
  • Ability to to collaborate and lead informational systems with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to develop data sets and facilitate updated memos and briefings at board meetings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Career and Technical Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in educational leadership, including supervision and evaluation of staff
  • Experience in CTE, career readiness, or pathway development at the school, district, or state level
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and a demonstrated commitment to equity

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

  • DPI 5093, Career Tech Ed Coordinator License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and may involve walking, sitting, stooping or reaching. Manual dexterity is necessary for completing general tasks while operating office equipment. This position may require being stationary for extended periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work requires travel to different locations within the district and to off-site meetings
  • Position requires working evenings, nights, and some weekends
  • Certain positions within the District may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.
  • School-based positions are required to be in-person unless otherwise directed by the building principal

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Director of Secondary Programs and Pathways position focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and pathways for high school students. This includes ensuring equitable access to quality education and post-secondary opportunities, often in collaboration with K-12 partners, faculty, and community stakeholders. The role also involves aligning general education and career pathways, securing funding, and tracking program outcomes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will directly supervise the Experiential Learning Coordinator, Career & Technical Education Specialists and the Admin Clerk Senior of Secondary Programs & Pathways.

D. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (5%)

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or their representatives or designees
  • Attend all district and school functions that support MMSD’s strategic framework, initiatives, and core values, including Board Meetings, Community events, and workgroups
  • Complete any and all district-required training
  • Build collaborative relationships with business partners
