Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Member Engagement & Communications, the Marketing & Communications Manager works with the director to create, manage, and implement marketing and communications strategies for APEGA that focus on raising awareness of APEGA’s role; communicating key messages to different external audiences and stakeholders in consistent and influential ways; developing creative marketing and communication campaigns; and strengthening APEGA’s brand and value as a regulatory body to sustain the engineering and geoscience professions in Alberta.

Responsibilities

  • Advising the Director, Member Engagement & Communications on marketing trends and advertising opportunities.
  • Overseeing the development and management of marketing and communications plans for APEGA initiatives, based on organizational strategic priorities and operational plans.
  • Overseeing the production and placement of advertising, collateral, promotional items, and advertorials in various digital and print media. Approve advertising, or when applicable, obtain approval from the Director, Member Engagement & Communications.
  • Working with external agencies and vendors to discuss opportunities, review progress, troubleshoot issues and manage the relationship at a senior and managerial level.
  • Ensuring all advertising and marketing material is on brand, on message, and produced in dialogue and consultation with APEGA’s Graphic Designer.
  • Leading the development and implementation of marketing processes and procedures to ensure effective and efficient workflow, improve communication and enhance working relationships.
  • Contributing to department annual business planning in support of APEGA’s strategic and operational plans, ensuring information about APEGA’s marketing priorities are considered and addressed.
  • Developing and managing the department’s annual budget; providing quarterly and annual updates for the budget.
  • Ensuring effective brand presence at external events, such as corporate dinners, business events, luncheons, special presentations, government dinners and events, and acting as an APEGA representative. May involve writing briefs; creating speaking notes or presentations; or acting as a primary point of contact on site for vendors and/or other APEGA representatives
  • Supervising and providing direction to a team of four: two Marketing & Communications Specialists, a Social Media Specialist, and a Graphic Designer on all marketing content and collateral, providing guidance and effective feedback.
  • Determining and approving content and channels for specific initiatives, and overseeing the coordination of the design, approval, production, and launch of these materials.
  • Ensuring the effective creation and distribution of digital and print material for events and initiatives, including programs, biographies, scripts, and branded event assets.
  • With strategic direction from the Director, Member Engagement & Communications, the Marketing & Communications Manager plans and implements inbound and outbound sponsorships.
