Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Reimbursement Supervisor, is responsible for the billing and accounting for revenues generated in accounts receivable for the agency.  Duties include, but are not limited to: updating accounts on computer system; monitoring accounts for problems, errors, or delinquencies and resolving appropriately; obtaining and follow-up for authorizations, answering questions from consumers, staff, insurance companies, and third party payers and other provider agencies, etc. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the department in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures. Requirements: Possession of a High school diploma or GED is required.  One year experience billing third party insurance and first party private insurance using an automated billing system is required. Insurance billing experience includes: Fee-for-service Medicaid billing, Medicare Part B billing, commercial insurance for medical billing, follow-up with rejections, monitoring accounts receivable claims, fee statements, monitoring spend downs, including full Microsoft Office Suite, and the monthly billing process. Must have strong knowledge of medical billing processes, payer rules, and reimbursement methodologies, including Medicaid/Medicare and commercial insurance. Must have understanding of accounts receivable management, payment posting, and reconciliation procedures. Must be familiar with payer rejections, denials management, and claims resubmission processes. Must have proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), practice management systems, and billing software. Must be able to pass a Microsoft Word and Excel exam with a proficient score. Must have working knowledge of Windows based spreadsheets.  Must be proficient in using CPT, DSM-5 and ICD-10 coding.  Ability to analyze an abundance of data and make decisions accordingly.  Ability to enter large amounts of data into the computer system with speed and accuracy.  Ability to complete assignments within structured timelines. Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history.
