TITLE: Paraprofessional: Long-Term Sub Mathematics Tutor - Elementary
TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time (1.0); 2025-2026 school year, anticipated immediate start; salary per collective bargaining agreement, and commensurate with experience (salary $29.21/hr)
LOCATION: Hopkins Elementary School, Hopkinton, Massachusetts
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidates
It is the primary responsibility of all Paraprofessionals to provide social-emotional, behavioral, and instructional support and interventions to all students in all settings. The Mathematics Tutor works under the direction of the building principal to provide tutoring in mathematics for students. The tutor carries out tutoring plans that are provided for each student to help them acquire mathematical skills and knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered qualified for the position of Mathematics Tutor, candidates must have/be:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, from an accredited college or university, in Mathematics, Education, or related field;
  • Demonstrated ability in, and understanding of, mathematics;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children and adults;
  • Ability to take direction in order to carry out tutoring plans;
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Carries out tutoring plan provided for each assigned student in one-to-one or small group settings;
  • Continuously monitors students’ grasp of the tutoring content, maintains anecdotal records on the same, and reports progress to the students’ teachers;
  • Utilizes instructional technology and other instructional resources as indicated on the tutoring plan;
  • Provides verbal support, prompting, redirection and modeling in helping the student(s) access the activities of the curriculum;
  • Works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other staff;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
