The role ALS Geochemistry in Pooraka is seeking a 2IC to join our team and support the continued growth and performance of our laboratory operations. Reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager, this role plays a key part in the day-to-day coordination of the laboratory, contributing to efficient workflows and operational excellence. You will work closely with an experienced and supportive management team and gain exposure to a broad range of leadership responsibilities. Our Pooraka facility is a medium-sized laboratory comprising both sample preparation and associated services, employing approximately 40 - 50 team members. The site is recognised for its skilled, high-performing workforce, backed by a strong regional leadership team in Adelaide. This full-time position offers the opportunity to develop skills in: Leading, mentoring, and motivating operational teams Applying strong business acumen to drive performance Building and maintaining client relationships Contributing to strategic growth and continuous improvement You will also receive dedicated support and structured development through training and mentoring programs delivered by senior management. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, enthusiastic, and technically minded individual to step into a key leadership role within a fast-paced, high-throughput laboratory environment. The day to day Responsibilities will include: Assisting with the daily management of the entire operation. Developing and fostering client relations. Data approval, quality control and site compliance. Leave coverage for the Manager role. Leading and motivating teams in a fast paced laboratory environment This role offers the right candidate the opportunity to gain experience across a diverse range of management disciplines in a multifaceted geochemistry laboratory, including staff management, financial management, and direct client interaction. Strong technical ability regarding sample prep and laboratory equipment. Proven people management skills.
