Essential Qualifications

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent qualification as recognized by ACECQA.
  • A current and valid Working With Children Check or ability to obtain one.
  • First Aid Certificate including training in asthma and anaphylaxis.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS) to assist in ensuring quality practices and outcomes.
  • Ability to support, mentor and lead a team of educators in the absence of the Service Manager.
  • Capability to assist in managing daily operations, from staffing to parent communications.
  • Strong verbal and written skills for effective interactions with families, staff and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to effectively address and resolve issues that may arise within the service.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Previous experience in a Service 2IC, Assistant Director, Assistant Service Manager or similar role within an early childhood setting.
  • Demonstrated skills in working collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
  • Proficiency in using relevant management software and tools for communication, documentation and reporting.
  • A commitment to engage in ongoing training and development.
  • Skills to address and mediate challenges or disputes that might arise among staff or with families.
