Rate of Pay: $27.50/hour
Position Status: Seasonal Contract, Full time
Terms: Various contracts available:
March/April – November 2025,
April/May – October 2025,
May – September 2025,
(Full time 5 shifts per week, must be flexible)
Reports To: Food Services Supervisor and 1st cooks
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- Food Safe level 1
- WHIMIS Certification an asset
- Previous experience in the food service industry preferably a camp environment or equivalent an asset
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergies
- Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Responsibilities:
- Assist 1st cook in day-to-day food preparation, cooking, execution and service of food at a high volume
- Understand the importance of communicating kitchen stock and inventory to 1st cooks and Food Services Manager
- Serve and assist in communicating to participants(adults and children) at meal times to ensure all goes smoothly
- Ensuring a light level of quality, cleanliness, and food safe handling is met in all aspects of work
- Providing friendly, professional customer service to participants and staff inside and out of the kitchen
- Ensure the safety of all participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all participants and staff
- Ensure FoodSafe standards are followed at all times
- Making sure weekly and daily cleaning tasks and checklists are completed
- Willingness to learn new skills in a fast pace environment
- Other duties as assigned by Food Services Director or 1st cooks as needed
