Description

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Second Officer to join our team on board Islander. As a key member , the Second Officer will be responsible for navigation, watchkeeping, safety procedures, and assisting in the overall operations under the supervision of the Chief Officer.

Responsibilities

Stand navigational watch and ensure safe passager under SOLAS, COLREG, and company procedures
Supervise the loading of the upper deck and liaise closely with the Chief Officer regarding securing cargo, positioning of dangerous goods, plugging in of trailers during commercial operations
Be in charge of the after mooring station and keep the Master informed of the vessel’s position at all times during berthing operations. During anchoring, the Second Officer is in charge on the forecastle and must inform the Master of the anchor’s direction and status
Assist in voyage planning, chart corrections, and navigational equipment maintenance
Participate in safety drills, emergency response procedures, and crew training
Supervise deck crew as required and ensure compliance with safety protocols
Maintain logbooks and documentation as per regulatory requirements
Support loading/unloading operations and ballast control (if applicable)
Condor Ferries was founded in 1964 and initially operated a passenger service between France and the Channel Islands. In 1985 the first service linking the Channel Islands with the UK was launched and since then Condor Ferries has operated a year-round service connecting the UK, Guernsey and Jersey and the port of St Malo in France.
