Position: 2nd Shift Blow Molding Operator Salary: $21 per hour Hours: Monday-Friday, 3:00pm-11:30pm Location: Ayer, MA BASIC FUNCTIONS Position has responsibility for operating Blow Molding Machinery according to standard operating procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes, but is not limited to the following: Sets up and operates blow molding machine to mold plastic products according to specifications: Turns valves to start flow of water and release air pressure to machine. Moves machine controls to set timing unit and temperature of heating unit and start automatic feed mechanism. Adjusts machine mandrel and aligns mandrel with mold chamber, using wrenches. Starts molding machine that automatically feeds material from mixing unit to mandrel and to mold chamber. Closes chamber to mold product under heat and pressure. Removes workpiece from mold after timing device opens mold, and trims excess material from workpiece, using knife or bandsaw. Regrinds excess material and unsatisfactory workpiece for reuse, using grinding machine. May weigh completed workpiece to determine accuracy of machine operation. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED: or 2 plus years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior machine operating experience, blow molding machine experience a plus. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to visually identify defective parts. Must be able to use computer and associated programs. EQUIPMENT USED Ability to lift 60 pounds Prolonged standing May require bending WORKING ENVIRONMENT Manufacturing work environment
Responsibilities
The operator is responsible for setting up and running blow molding machinery to produce plastic parts according to specifications. This includes adjusting machine controls, monitoring production cycles, and trimming excess material from finished workpieces.
