Description POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the operation of production equipment to produce quality product meeting Wayne Metals and customer specifications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Associate will be training in three key areas for entry level operator: ASSEMBLY, LASER DENESTING, and SPOT WELD 1a. An Assembly operator will be able to perform the general assembly operations required for the jobs within the department. He consistently meets or exceeds production standards and/or expectations. 1b. A Laser Denester will be able to perform operations of the laser denesting area, including overhead crane operation and certification. 1c. Spot Welder will be trained to run all of the equipment and jobs within the department and can do all set-ups. He/she must consistently meet or exceed production standards and/or expectations. 2. Under the direction of the area manager or instruction of a Team leader, Cross Functional Operator will be assigned to run production and / or setup equipment upon which he has been trained. 3. The operator must have the ability to read, write and perform arithmetic. The operator is responsible for the production counts being reported accurately. 4. The associate should have the ability to use hand tools related to the various machines, which he/she will be required to operate or assist in operating. 5. Operator must maintain a safe, clean, orderly and hazard-free work area, always promote safety and have knowledge of all safety rules, seeing that all work is done in a safe manner. He/she will report any unsafe condition to his immediate supervisor. 6. Operator must comply with all Wayne Metals, LLC quality system requirements, defect/error prevention, waste reduction, and WM standards. Will be trained and use SPC systems in place for production operations. 7. Operator should understand production efficiency and ensure he/she is performing per the rates specified and understand that if the rate is too tight or too loose, he/she should advise the Team Lead and/or Area Manager. 8. The operator shall be aware of the Manufacturing Goals for the Company. 9. Operator will be responsible for labor reporting through the Visual Manufacturing System; it is critically important to our process, inventory control, cost accounting, capacity planning and staffing. The operator must follow the procedure for labor entry closely and advise his / her superior when there is a problem. Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent training or work experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of arithmetic; Knowledge of blueprint reading; Knowledge of defects. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conform to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs and procedures. • Conform to all State of Indiana laws and regulations. • Report any environmental concerns to Supervisor, Environmental Management Representative, Operations Manager, or GM.
