Job Details Job Location: Maine - Brewer, ME Education Level: High School Salary Range: $18.50 - $20.50 Hourly Job Shift: 2nd shift (3pm - 11pm) 2nd Shift Machine Operator SUMMARY Sets up and operates numerical control equipment to machine components to specifications by performing the following duties. Satisfy SAs Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference Somic America Quality Manual and Quality Policy). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Safety Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner. Report any unsafe conditions to Team Leader immediately. Quality Complete Hourly checks using In Process Check Sheets and Gaging to ensure parts meet Quality Specifications Notifies Team Leader of any suspect material and helps to contain material line side. Changeovers Complete Changeovers using the Changeover Procedure. Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to changeover instructions. Fill in Change over checklist to ensure all changeover steps are complete. Operation Utilize AIM to transact material at final step of process. Completes Standardized work in accordance to Work Instructions. Removes material from boxes and places in fixture or on conveyor. Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools. Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine. Offsets tool, as required. Measures and inspects parts for conformance to specifications/hourly checks, using in process sheets and gaging. Notify Team Leader or Production Manager of any abnormal or unusual condition. Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified or inserts cutting tools in specified machine magazines. Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions. Complete line PMs (planned maintenance) as assigned. Submit kaizen suggestions for improvements. 2nd Shift Machine Operator QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
