Description
Description RAM Aviation, Space & Defense is a leader in aerospace innovation, powering flight and space exploration with precision solenoids, valves, and actuators. Since 1975, we’ve supported missions like the Space Shuttle and continue to deliver mission-critical components for commercial, defense, and satellite systems. As one of Southern Utah’s largest employers, we drive economic growth and offer high-skilled careers in engineering and manufacturing. From our advanced facility in St. George, we build the future of aerospace—on time, with excellence, and as a team. Join us to work on groundbreaking technology and help shape the future of flight and space exploration. Your career takes off here! As the 2nd Shift Team Lead, you are the heartbeat of our night operations. When the sun goes down, you keep the mission moving. You will oversee the safety, productivity, and morale of the assembly team, ensuring that our flight-critical hardware continues to move through the value stream without interruption. This role is designed as a leadership accelerator; we are looking for a designated successor who is eager to prove their ability to lead autonomously and grow into a future Supervisor role. You will be the bridge between shifts, the problem solver on the floor, and the champion of the RAM culture after hours. Duties and Responsibilities Shift Handovers: "Pass the baton" effectively. You will connect daily with 1st Shift Supervisors to review production goals, quality alerts, and material shortages, ensuring a seamless transition between shifts. Operational Leadership: Provide guidance and support to all assembly areas. You are the first line of defense for questions, ensuring the team stays on track to hit hourly and daily targets. Material Flow: Ensure the line never starves. You will support material handling activities, issue parts, and manage inventory movements so your assemblers have what they need to succeed. At times, you may also help assemble parts. Performance Tracking: Own the metrics. You will track attendance and production output, helping the team understand "winning vs. losing" the shift and assisting Supervisors in closing any gaps. Team Engagement: Build trust and camaraderie. You will foster an environment where team members feel heard and are encouraged to share new ideas for improvement. Safety & Security: Maintain a safe and productive work environment. As a key leader on site during 2nd shift, you act as the safety champion, ensuring protocols are followed and the facility is secure. Problem Solving: Troubleshoot bottlenecks in real-time. Whether it's a machine issue or a process question, you help resolve it or escalate it to the appropriate channels. Requirements Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements). Schedule: Must be available to work 2nd Shift hours (e.g., 2:30 PM – 1:00 AM) and overlap with 1st shift for handovers. Experience: 2+ years of experience in assembly or manufacturing operations. Prior experience as a Line Lead or backup supervisor is highly preferred. Leadership Potential: Demonstrated ability to lead by example. You are the person others naturally look to for answers. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to leave clear, detailed pass-down notes for the morning team. Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP systems (for material transactions) and Microsoft Office. Autonomy: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You are comfortable making decisions when the main office is closed. Why You’ll Love Working at RAM – Our Benefits At RAM Aviation, Space & Defense, we believe our people are our greatest asset.
