A very important component of this is the work done in the Transportation Department.  Position Location: Grand Rapids, MI Schedule range: Sunday-Thursday.  Typical hours: Sundays 3:30pm-1:00am, Mondays-Thursdays 2:30pm-12:00am until finished includes holidays.  Overview: This role supports the overall Distribution operation by unloading, fueling and moving trailers in and out of dock doors, around the trailer pad area and to and from our maintenance providers.   Description of Position activities: * Complete spot inspections of trailers including: lights, exterior damage, and reefer unit. * Unload and fuel all equipment as it returns from a route.  Ensure equipment is clean, ready and road worthy for next trip. * Accurately complete paperwork for yard check, fuel tank reporting, DVCR reports, etc. * Back trailers to docks and set reefer temperatures for outbound loading.  Set wheel chocks to ensure for safe loading/unloading while trailer is in the door. * Shuttle equipment between garage and Company yard. * Make product pick-ups as directed by warehouse and transportation management. * Perform route duties on occasion/ shuttle runs on occasion. Requirements: * One year of experience is preferred. May consider candidates with newly obtained CDL-A License. * Must be 21 years old or older. * High school education or equivalent. * Must have CDL-A license with doubles endorsement * Must have the ability to operate a tractor/trailer, two-wheeler and a one ton van. * No felonies * Must have English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.     
Responsibilities
The yard switcher is responsible for moving trailers in and out of dock doors, fueling equipment, and performing spot inspections. They also ensure trailers are clean and road-ready while maintaining accurate records for yard checks and fuel reporting.
