JOB SUMMARY

The role of the 2SLGBTQIA+ Diversity and Inclusion Specialist will be to plan, implement and facilitate information sessions and workshops based on participant and organizational needs, to provide information, build connections and to develop resilience.
This position will work in close collaboration with program facilitators to design and deliver Diversity and Inclusion initiatives (e.g. 2SLGBTQ+ awareness) through direct services, group sessions, and connection circles.
The role will be focused on building our organization capacity to support and engage targeted newcomer client populations, including women, 2SLGBTQIA+, Youth and people with disabilities, to participate in information sessions and workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)

  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in the area of diversity and inclusion 2 – 3 years’ direct program delivery experience and workshop/information session preparation and facilitation
  • University Degree/ Community College Diploma specializing in community development/ engagement, equity, diversity and inclusion or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to communicate in a 2nd Language an asset
  • Familiarity with client management software, such as OCMS will be an asset, or the ability to quickly learn and operate similar systems to capture operational details and maintain accurate client information securely
  • Proven experience as an organizational leader, particularly around initiatives that promote diversity, access and inclusion
  • Demonstrated experience in bring about positive change in the field of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Personal and/or professional lived experience relating to issues of Justice, Access, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity.
  • Internet, social media and intermediate computer knowledge of MS Office, Adobe
  • Comfortable in using various video communication platforms
  • Comprehensive understanding of a range of diversity issues related to the protected grounds as identified in the Ontario Human Rights Code
  • Ability to navigate and mediate sensitive issues within a multicultural and diverse environment.
  • Experience in creating, implementing, and evaluating programs, ensuring they meet participant needs and align with organizational goals.
  • Strong understanding of the importance of maintaining privacy and handling sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to adjust to the changing needs of programs and participants, along with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in understanding and addressing the intersectional nature of issues impacting diverse populations, especially newcomers, from equity deserving groups
  • Experience in designing, organizing and facilitating workshops for groups
  • Acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check
Responsibilities

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for successful delivery of the program ensuring goals, outcomes and client satisfaction
  • Act as a champion to support and advance the YMCA of Three River’s JAIDE action road map
  • Support effective change management and adoption of inclusive practices and considerations across the YMCA of Three Rivers
  • To oversee the day-to day operations of program delivery
  • Responsible for program delivery planning for the program.
  • Conduct a needs assessment to assess the client’s needs and to support community referrals where applicable
  • Preparing accurate monthly, quarterly and annual narrative reports and collect the required statistics on program progress meeting the timelines.
  • Provide the supervisor with regular program and staff updates and maintain open communication
  • Monitor and guide evaluations and measuring outcomes
  • Plan implement and facilitate information session/ workshops as per client needs clients, which may include inviting guest speakers from community
  • Prepare workshop/ information session curriculum on the basis of the changing needs and feedback of the clients for improvement.
  • Provide information, orientation to the clients and make appropriate referrals to the other YMCA programs, community and government services
  • Maintain client information confidentiality
  • Attend workshops, trainings, staff meetings with the supervisor as required.
  • Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends, as required, to accommodate client needs and program schedules.
