OVERVIEW

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in the field while developing their skills in various mechanical and operational tasks. As an Apprentice, you will work closely with experienced professionals, learning the intricacies of coach, school, and electric bus operation, maintenance, and repair. This role provides an excellent opportunity for career growth in a dynamic environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A working knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance practices for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair problems in both general and advanced mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting service manuals, owner/operator manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to report findings and repairs effectively.
  • The ability to follow instructions and carry them out effectively, and to maintain accurate records.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on new technologies and advances in the field.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge with an understanding of automotive repair principles.
  • Experience with electrical systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment safely under supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills to interact positively with clients and team members.
  • Willingness to learn new skills related to maintenance, assembly, and equipment operation.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) as required by the job.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of passenger transportation vehicles, including highway coach buses, school buses, and electric buses.
  • Support experienced mechanics in automotive repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Learn to read and interpret schematics for electrical systems and mechanical assemblies.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for various tasks.
  • Participate in welding and fabrication projects as needed.
  • Engage in customer service interactions, providing assistance and information when required.
  • Perform heavy lifting and physical labor as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Adjust, overhaul, repair, and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension systems.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on electrical/electronic systems, fuel and exhaust systems, suspension and steering components, and air conditioning systems.
  • Conduct routine and scheduled maintenance, including inspections, oil changes, and lubrication, according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Identify necessary parts, create parts lists, and order or receive parts from the stockroom.
  • Maintain accurate and neat records of repairs, diagnostic work, and preventive maintenance performed, submitting them to the Lead Technician, Facility Manager, or Executive Administrator.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and service managers regarding repairs and vehicle status.
  • Follow all safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and attend required training classes and meetings.
