Description Summary Sets up and operates blanchers. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions Sets up and operates blanchers to deliver product to packing lines. Constantly monitors temperature and salinity of products so they conform to specifications given in the formula book. Makes adjustments as needed. Calls in all shut downs to Line Lead Person or Supervisor including the motor #. Completes all paperwork accurately and neatly. Inspects machine pack and hand pack lines and washes lines before packing operation or whenever instructed by the Supervisor. Inspects product on conveyor that feeds packing machine. Follows safety rules and company policies. Other duties Notes and records information on machinery downtime Inspects and removes foreign objects out of raw materials on processing line conveyor before cutting machinery of relish salad cubes and chips. Checks salometer of storage brine tank with hydrometer. Keeps work area clean and tidy. Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate. Receives written instructions from packing schedule or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor. Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High school graduate or equivalent needed. Ability to read, write and speak English required for job tasks. Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions required for job tasks. Legible handwriting needed. Supervisory Responsibilities None Machines, Equipment, Tools Used Blancher, Water hose, Pliers, Pans, Broom. Physical Demands Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward. Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion. Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontal from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach, performs mechanical or skilled trades or a non-repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc. Work Environment Some outside work, but primarily inside subject to some seasonal temperature variations and intermittent wetting from some job tasks. Fumes from hot pepper. Earplugs required because of irritating machinery noise. Some contact with grease. Head cover and beard cover required. Gloves required at times.
Responsibilities
