Description Packaging Materials/ Local Truck Driver/ Forklift Operator Summary Safely operates yard dog and trailers on Company grounds and in the local area. Safely operates forklift to unload and transport packaging materials. Duties and Responsibilities Essential functions Packaging Materials Local Truck Driver Before operating, checks to assure yard dog truck and trailers are in safe operating condition. Informs supervisor of problems and/or maintenance needed. Before operating, checks to assure forklift is safe operating condition. Informs supervisor of problems and/or maintenance needed on check list sheet Safely operates yard dog and trailer units to transport packaging materials between the Company production facilities and outside warehouses. Occasionally may assist local warehouse drivers with transport of finished goods, recycle trailer, hauling cucumbers and Spots delivery trailers at Company warehouse and on unloading areas Properly connects/disconnects yard dog to trailers and assist with fueling the yard dog. Keeps yard dog and trailer in neat and clean condition. Operates forklift to load/unload outgoing/incoming trucks of packaging materials, etc. Operates forklift to transport materials to valid location in the warehouse, including scanning the materials to the locations. Perform routine cycle counts on materials located in the warehouse. Weighs recycling trailer on company scale before taking them to outside warehouse Complete all written documentation required for all jobs. Stoops, bends and lifts or pushes heavy objects in many job duties. Follows safety rules and company policies. Other Duties Cleans assigned work area including unloading warehouse docks and inside the warehouse, etc. Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate. Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor. Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High school plus additional training preferred. Math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. Ability to speak, read and write in English needed for job tasks. Must have current Commercial Driver's License and be DOT approved. Certified forklift operator. Supervisory Responsibilities None Machines, Equipment, Tools Used Tractor, Trailer, Trailer Jack, Air Hose. Forklift, Ramps, Washer, Yard Dog, Hand tools, Pumps, Hoses, Ladder, Broom, Brush, Shovel, Scales, and other tools and equipment in the warehouse area. Physical Demands Climbing: Ascending or descending truck ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion. Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerate degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Gloves, goggles, aprons, ear protection and steel inserts for shoes available as needed. Operates Company vehicles on public highways, on a regular basis.
Responsibilities

The role also requires performing routine checks on equipment and maintaining cleanliness of assigned work areas.
